O. Yemi Tubi – An Artist and Advocate for the world’s Peace. Olabamiji Yemi Tubi, commonly known as O Yemi Tubi aka MOYAT, a Nigerian born, American trained Artist, currently residing in United Kingdom as an artist with creative and unique personal style. Most of his recent paintings were influenced by political and social upheaval of our world today and the works of the Renaissance artists. He does not like artworks just for decoration but to evoke feelings. He uses his works to speak passionately about the issues that touch his heart. Exchange of missiles of words between President Donald Trump of America and Kim Jong Hu of North Korea provoked him to do the painting “The Chickens’ Fight.” His painting “African’t” speaks about the exploitation of African nations. The Painting depicts paradoxical poverty and the riches of Africa. “The Fishers of Men” is about the horror of refugees drowning in Mediterranean Sea. He desires his portrait paintings to be uniquely creative. He likes to use the portrait paintings to tell the stories about his subjects as he did with the portrait of Professor Wole Soyinka, 1986 Nobel Prize Winner in Literature. In the painting “SOYINKA: A Literary Icon” he used books and flowing letters to create the portrait. Life is roses and thorns; sometimes it emanates sweet aroma of pleasantness and sometimes it pricks and causes pains. O. Yemi adopts Roses and Thorns to speak about the facts of life in some of his paintings. His paintings, “The Bleeding Roses”, “Domestic Abuse” and Sensuality1: Pain and Pleasure are few of his paintings in Roses and Thorns series; in which the main objects of the paintings are roses and stems woven into human figures. In recent years, he has used his paintings to speak about the glooms and dooms of the world around us. In spite of the despondency and challenges part of life, there is a rosy side of life as well. O. Yemi works was awarded 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th places in political commentaries in American Art Awards from 2014 to 2017. He was recipient Golden Award with cash award in 2014 Master of Art International exhibition by Margarita Feaks Gallery, UK. He also received First Round Award with cash in Art Olympia 2015 International Open exhibition in Tokyo Japan. He was one of the artists awarded ATIM’S TOP 60 MASTERS OF CONTEMPORARY ART by Art Tour International Magazine in 2017 and 2018 Florence, Italy and New York, USA. O. Yemi is a member of the Fine Art America, the Society of All Artists, AERA –the Association Embracing Realistic Art Circle Foundation for the arts and WCA- World Citizen Artists.
O Yemi Biography – Olabamiji Yemi Tubi, commonly known as O Yemi Tubi aka MOYAT was born in the city of Ibadan, Nigeria, West Africa. His BFA Degree was obtained from Valdosta State College, Valdosta Georgia USA where he majored in Graphic Design. He was awarded Art Scholarship and a plaque (Excellence in Fine Art) 1984 by South Georgia, Douglas Georgia, USA. He had a solo exhibition at Millfield House, Edmonton, London, England in 1992. He currently lives and works as a Graphic Artist in United Kingdom. His works, influenced by Renaissance artists and current world political situation, evoked him to do some of his recent paintings. (The Eagle has landed was shortlisted and exhibited for the ArtGemini Prize 2013. His painting “Arab Revolution” was exhibited in a group exhibition with The United Society of Artists at Cork Street, London, UK. Five of his paintings were exhibited in a group exhibition of The Best of Salon Des Refuses 2014 July in London UK. His paintings (Portrait of an Artist) won 2014 Master of Art International Gold award in 2014. “Portrait of an Artist” and “The Eagle has Landed” won 4th and 6th places in 2014 American Art Awards. O Yemi took part in WAC 2014 group exhibition in October 2014. His painting, “Hunger in the Land of Plenty”, exhibited in Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize 2015; chosen by the United Nations for their multimedia installations at the Milan Expo 2015 and was selected for the final round of Art Olympia Competition 2015 exhibition with prize award in Tokyo, Japan.

Yemi painting- “Peace in our time- Eagle” won “Award of Excellence” with cash award in 18th Annual Judeo-Christian Juried Online International Art Exhibition hosted by Upstream People Gallery of Omaha Nebraska, USA. 2015 American Art Awards awarded 2nd Place in Political Commentary to O. Yemi’s works: “Hunter in the Land of Plenty” and 5 th Place in Religious & Spiritual category “The Bleeding Roses” His paintings “Petroleum Oil: Africans’ Wealth & Woe” and ”Arab Revolution” won 5 th and 6 th places 2016 American Art Awards His Painting – Portrait of an Artist was selected for exhibition with Federation of Canadian Artists in their annual Painting on the Edge 2015. January 2016, He was awarded First International Prize- Leonardo Da Vinci – The Universal Artist Award 2016 in Florence Italy. His paintings – “Ukraine: The Unfortunate Bride” and “The Bleeding Roses” was published in 14 th edition of Fresh Paint Magazine in July 2016. O. Yemi was awarded and took part in Art Venice 2016. His painting- “Petroleum Oil: Africans’ Wealth & Woe” was one of the finalist shortlisted for exhibition in New York in November 2016 in Re:artiste 2nd International Art Competition Show Your World. O. Yemi was awarded The Best 2016 Modern and Contemporary Artists Award in Vienna. O. Yemi was one of the artists awarded 2017, ATIM’S TOP 60 MASTERS OF CONTEMPORARY ART by Art Tour International Magazine in Florence, Italy.
Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands commemorative AWARD HONOURS to O. Yemi Tubi for the participation in the works of 2017, 15 th PATRAS ART FAIR, that took place in Patras Greece. Juried by the 25 Best Galleries & Museums in America, O. Yemi’s paintings “Domestic Abuse” won 1st Place in Political Commentary Category and “SOYINKA: An African Literary Icon” also won 4 th Place- Tie in Portrait of Someone Famous” category in The 2017 American Art
Awards. His painting “SOYINKA: An African Literary Icon” was sold by international recognized gallery – Saatchiart to an art collector in USA.
